General Information

We are happy and appreciative that you have the confidence in our abilities to refer your patient to our office for endodontic care. Below is some information about our practice that may help as you prepare your patient for referral.

  • We treat only one patient at a time.
  • We will do everything in our power to make your patient’s visit a positive one, and we will provide the best care possible for each and every patient we have the privilege to treat.
  • Except for unscheduled emergency patients, each appointment time is reserved for just one patient.
  • Most treatment is completed in one visit of 1½ -2 hours.
  • Unlike some other offices, we never say “Just come right over” if we know that Dr. Katsarsky will not be available for several hours. And, your patient will not be kept waiting in our waiting room just so that we can make sure that your patient is not referred to another office. Everyone leads a busy life and making someone wait unnecessarily for an extended period of time is not good for anyone.
  • We never place our needs ahead of the needs of the patient.
  • If the patient you wish to refer requires emergency treatment we will attempt to work them into our schedule as soon as possible. And, rest assured, when we offer an appointment time it is most likely that the doctor will be ready to see your patient when that time arrives.
  • We understand that there are times that your patient will need to be seen sooner than we are available to see them. In those cases, although we regret not being able to provide the care for your patient, we recommend that you refer your patient to another Endodontist who is available when the patient needs them. We want what is best for your patient whether that generates business for us or not.
  • If your patient is not experiencing acute pain it is usually better to refer them for a consultation visit rather than recommending that they be scheduled for a treatment visit. Over the years we have found that patients who come in for a consultation first and then return for the treatment visit on another day usually report a much better overall experience than those patients who were treated the first time they enter the office.
  • A few reasons why it makes sense to refer your patient for a consultation visit prior to scheduling the treatment include:
  • By coming in for a consultation visit prior to the treatment visit it will allow your patient to meet us in a non-threatening environment prior to the day of treatment. Whereas most patients feel comfortable with their general dentist and may have a long-standing relationship with that dentist, when they are referred here, they are meeting us for the first time. Many times patients are apprehensive about the proposed treatment and seeing a different dentist. The consultation allows us time to address concerns or questions your patient may have rather than simply jumping into treatment.
  • It allows your patient to become fully informed about what is involved in the treatment, have questions answered and make a decision without feeling pressured.
  • It allows time for Dr. Katsarsky to contact you if there are any questions about future treatment plans, restorability, periodontal status, etc.
  • It allows Dr. Katsarsky time to review medications, medical history and consult with your patient’s physician if necessary.
  • It allows your patient time to review the fee and payment options and arrange a payment method that will be comfortable for them.
  • It gives Dr. Katsarsky time to investigate the possibility that there may be other treatment options instead of root canal treatment available for your patient.

Thanks again for trusting us with the care of your patients.
